Being Upside Down - Headstand and Shoulderstand Workshop

  • Boston Yoga Union - Coolidge Corner 1297 Beacon Street Brookline, MA, 02446 United States (map)

Learn the techniques and tools to be steady and supported in Headstand and Shoulderstand.

Sirsasana (Headstand) and Sarvangasana (Shoulderstand) are two of the most transformative poses in yoga. They require total, sustained presence, and thus instill a patient steadiness that lasts long after a yogi has gotten back on their feet. As an added bonus, they’re also fun and cool.

In this workshop, students will learn the techniques to prepare for, enter, and stay in these two inversions. Props will be used to make the poses both accessible and safe for all levels of practitioners. Come see why these are the “king and queen” of yoga poses, and make them a part of your regular practice.

Price: $50 // $30 supported rate made available by emailing hello@bostonyogaunion.com

When: Saturday, March 1 at 4:00-5:30PM

Where: Coolidge Corner Studio, 1297 Beacon St, Brookline, MA

About Your Teacher:

Matt Singer

As many do, Matt discovered yoga after a breakup, and fell in love at first savasana. He soon found that yoga helped him address more than just temporary pains. Having spent much of his life in a sedentary body from which he felt deeply alienated, yoga connected him with his physical self in a way he’d never experienced before. His goal is to provide this kind of self-connection for his students in every class; Matt creates sequences that bring practitioners deep into the somatic sensations of asana. Expect specific cueing that unifies the mind, breath and body through intensity and to walk away with a liberating calm. And on a good day, his jokes will land, too.
